## About

_DE:_ (EN see below)

_EN:_

Our mission is to provide the entire Emscher-Lippe zone with Internet of Things data connectivity by crowdsourcing the network by its citizens and local companies.

We see TTN as a chance for our region (Emscher-Lippe is Recklinghausen district plus cities of Bottrop and Gelsenkirchen, located in the northern Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The region is undergoing dramatic alterations due to economic structural change after the coal and steel industry is vanishing. A new orientation is needed, and we see it in digitalization, so-called Industry 4.0, smart cities, and more. Apart from technology and economics, social issues as well as protecting environment and climate have to be considered. LoRaWAN and especially The Things Network as a community effort can play an important role here.

We are happy to have you join the community. Contact the core team and help us unleash the Internet of Things in the Emscher-Lippe region.
