Sunday Jan 15: Map-The-Things + SMS-LoRa Hackathon

Please come join us to build some things for the Internet of Things using The Things Network!

We'll get together and get hands-on experience building nodes for mapping the network using Frank Rose's Map-The-Things app.

We will also be building emergency messaging into the App so you can send/receive SMS even when you have no cellular or WiFi service!

We currently have an iOS app, talking to some Adafruit hardware (Bluefruit M0 plus LoRa Featherwing) which connects to TheThingsNetwork. At the hackathon we want to finish the chat App, maybe build an Android app, write the backend for SMS, build as many nodes as possible, and test it out (minus the end-of-the-world part).

All are welcome to join, whether you are a coding wizard or just curious about tech. We are putting all code on GitHub for the benefit of all.

Pizza and drinks will be provided.

MakerBar is a makerspace in Hoboken, just one stop away from Manhattan on the PATH train.

Feel free to come by for just an hour, or all day.

Please register, so we know how much pizza we'll need! https://www.meetup.com/The-Things-Network-NYC-Community-Meetup/events/236229892/
