Overcoming the challenge of retrofitting fire and life safety compliance with LORAWAN
Over 90% of the buildings we will live in by 2050 are already built. Despite major focus on landmark new buildings, the challenges facing smart building adoption are the challenges of retrofit. In this talk, we explore how technology such as LORAWAN has helped us to resolve the challenge of retrofitting automated inspection and fire safety system testing equipment for owners of large stocks of buildings like housing authorities and landlords. We examine the use cases that drive value for our customers and the challenges in making this technology effective and easy to adopt at scale and showcase our 'first-in-the-world' deployment of LORAWAN - DALI emergency lighting testing automation.

Achieving ESG Compliance with LoRa®

For a variety of reasons, environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals are now at the top of almost every corporate agenda. Complying with governmental regulations and demonstrating that these goals have been achieved means that the relevant data must be collected and reported. Fortunately, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions featuring LoRa® devices and the LoRaWAN® protocol, combined with cloud computing and advanced analytics makes data collection and evaluation simpler and more valuable now than at any time in history.

Don’t lose value to rust, mould or legionella! Use IoT and AI for prediction and avoidance

Did you know that moisture damage can reduce the selling price of a building by up to 15 percent? In extreme cases, it can even cause the building to be unsaleable! And not only this: mould in buildings has a substantial impact on peoples’ health and causes headaches, stuffy noses, red eyes or itchy skin. In more extreme cases it can even lead to diseases like asthma. This is only one example for damage in buildings. Other problems are the development of legionella or rust.

To detect and predict – and therefore avoid – these problems, we use LoRaWAN and smart sensors in buildings in combination with AI algorithms. Our CEO Elisabeth Schloten and CTO Moritz Süß will show you how this works and what sensors and technology can be used. To make it more tangible we will show you a Dashboard to monitor all values in real-time.

How to perform RF functional tests on STM32WL SoC
In this workshop, ST’s experts will provide an overview and a practical presentation of the STM32WL ecosystem and show you how to perform RF functional tests for (pre)certification. Based on a software example taken from the STM32CubeWL software package (LoRaWAN_AT_Slave) acting as LoRaWAN modem, we will explain how to use a subset of the relevant AT-commands for RF tests. The RF functional tests will be analyzed using the STM32CubeMonitor software for real-time variable monitoring, which is based on the widely-known Node-RED application (fast application development thanks to graphical approach of programming). The dedicated Node-RED flows provided within the STM32CubeWL software package repository (JSON file) will be used to set up the RF functional tests of the STM32WL SoC, but any software terminal can be used with LoRaWAN_AT_Slave and AT-commands to enable the test mode of the NUCLEO-WL55JC, the STM32WL-based target board, for (pre)certification.
