PAX Counter – Approximate the number of People in a space

Where

Workshops Area 1

When

01/31/2020 3:30pm

Your want to know when your cafeteria is full? Or how many people are waiting for the bus? Try using the PaxCounter: A cheap and small device, you can build yourself to approximate the amount of people from their wifi smartphone emissions. The workshop is a good introduction into TTN, IoT and Lora, into using a commercial visualizer and building your own devices. Devices are sponsored and you can take one home. All is GDPR compatible.

What are my takeaways from this workshop?

We will try to cover the whole range of a TTN thing: Software configuration of the device, installing, using a commercial visualization service and possible deployment in the wild. It’s a great start if you want to get a start with Lora / TTN and do your own hands on experience.

How can I prepare for this workshop?

Please bring a laptop and download:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio Code: https://code.visualstudio.com/?wt.mc_id=DX_841432
  • Atom.io
  • And maybe even download https://github.com/cyberman54/ESP32-Paxcounter
  • If you have a TTN Account and maybe even a Tago.io Account ready, this would be great
