Writing efficient embedded applications are traditionally written using C or C++ and adopting a specific Real Time Operating System (RTOS) for your application. Moreover, writing safe code is hard when the compiler cannot detect data races or other unsafe situations in your code.

Rust has the potential to revolutionize embedded programming. Not only because it allows you to write efficient and safe code with compile time checks to prevent a wide range of bugs, but also because the tooling and rich ecosystem of libraries allows you to write embedded applications similar to how you would write other types of software.

This talk will give a short introduction to the Rust embedded ecosystem and why it is a great alternative for embedded. After the introduction, we will explore the current state of LoRaWAN support in Rust.
