In the early days of LoRaWAN and TheThingsNetwork, choosing which devices to use was often driven by which embedded programming environment you were most used to, such as Arduino.

Now, as the market becomes more established we are presented with a wealth of options when it comes to selecting devices. As a user of LoRaWAN wanting to build applications, you may want to consider whether your devices are well-tested, reliable and crucially if they are able to scale up. It’s becoming increasingly important to choose the right devices, join us to learn how to go about choosing the right devices to suit your offering.

In this workshop we will look at the following aspects:

  • How to find a device to do a specific task
  • How to assess the supply chain
  • How to test your chosen devices (or why it’s useful for some one else do to it)
  • How to avoid choosing devices that fail after two months, don’t live up to their specifications and don’t suddenly become unavailable half way through a project
