LoRaWAN Conductivity Sensors

LoRaWAN conductivity sensors measure the electrical conductivity of water or soil to track dissolved salts, nutrients, and overall ionic content.

Conductivity sensing measures electrical conductivity (EC), how readily a liquid or soil conducts an electric current. Because conductivity rises as dissolved ions increase, it serves as a fast proxy for salinity, fertiliser concentration, and total dissolved solids, usually expressed in µS/cm or mS/cm and often paired with temperature compensation for accurate readings.

LoRaWAN conductivity devices place an EC probe in water or soil, sample on a set interval, and transmit the value in a compact payload over long-range, low-power radio. This lets a single gateway collect EC data from probes spread across fields, reservoirs, tanks, or remote outfalls without wiring or cellular coverage.

Typical deployments include:

  • Agriculture, hydroponics, and irrigation nutrient management
  • Surface and groundwater quality and saltwater-intrusion monitoring
  • Aquaculture, wastewater, and industrial process water

When comparing devices, weigh measurement range and accuracy, probe and temperature-compensation method, enclosure or IP rating for submersion, battery life, supported regional frequency plans, and whether a ready-made payload codec is provided.
