Ståle Pettersen, Semtech’s VP and a LoRa Alliance board member, explained that v2.0 of the LoRaWAN spec would introduce new categories of device roaming, so that devices have the ability to roam between the base stations provided by different LoRa network operators. In practice, this means that a tracked vehicle could report on the public LoRa network run by a MNO, but also fall back to a private or hybrid-private network run by a utility – provided that the private network allows that in their network configuration.
