Home NetID

Hi,
Using TTN Community Edition, the DevAddr assigned when using OTAA is consistent with the 0x000013 NetID used by TTN.
Using TTN Open source, the DevAddr assigned when using OTAA is consistent with the 0x000000 NetID used for experimental/private network. If we have a NetID, we can modify the Home NetID by using

ns :
net-id : ‘XXXXXX’

in the set up configuration files of the network server. Everythings works fine.

So, in the console, what is the purpose of this configuration: MyDevice > General Settings > Join Settings > Home NetID ?

Changing the value doesn’t work at all. We got confused with it, and it seems to have no effect to the DevAddr range assigned.
Thanks

The Home NetID option for a device is used for LoRaWAN roaming when the device is registered on a different LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) and you need The Things Stack (TTS) to forward data to it via the backend interfaces.

The --ns.net_id flag option is the Home Net ID of your TTS cluster and that’s used to generate device addresses.
