Link between registered devices and gateways

Hi,

I am working on following flow,

Sensor-1 ----> Gateway 1 ----> TTN ----> Thingsboard
Sensor-2 ---->

As we understand that data flows from Sensor-1 and 2 to TTN through Gateway-1 and to Thingsboard.
While registering the devices in TTN, we create an application and adds the devices. There is a separate option for registering the gateway.

I am not understanding what is the link between devices and gateways. How does sensor-1 sends data through gateway-1? Or how can we restrict that sensor-1 sends data only through gateway-1?

that is not possible… all LoRaWAN gateways within range of the node will receive and forward the data to the TTN backend.

Though in the upcoming V3, a gateway could filter:

Low bandwidth mode means that gateways will be able to filter uplink traffic before it is forwarded. This reduces traffic on metered gateway backhauls (i.e. cellular, satellite).

The filter is pushed by the cluster; at minimum, it passes uplink traffic for the cluster itself (i.e. the device address range of the cluster). When using peering (or roaming), it may include device address prefixes for those networks as well.

This is a feature of the Gateway Agent, part of V3.

But that’s kind of the other way around, and probably far beyond what’s being asked.
