New to TTN - Test Things Indoor Gateway so the network can receive traffic

Hi there,

New to the platform and the gateway itself. I have a things indoor gateway connected in the console and I would like to test the gateway to see if it can send data to the thing network console as I currently do not have a sensor node in possession. I saw one of the troubleshooting pages mentioned “connect to your gateway, and execute a few pings or DNS lookups: ping www.google.com or `nslookup account.thethingsnetwork.org”. I was wondering how do you exactly do this and also if there are alternative methods to test what I mentioned above.

Thanks.

You should see gateway statistic updates in the console. Unless you added the TTIG rather than claimed it, as per documentation.

Pinging is pointless as it won’t get past the load balancer and nslookup just tells you your computer can find the DNS entry for whatever address you put in.
