Power consumption of node - Open LoRa Course

Pretty cool news, we’ve started the development of an open, freely available online course around LoRa and LoRaWAN.

Part of the course is about the power consumption of nodes. I’m looking for good resources that give insights in battery usage, considering different spreading factors, how often data is sent, whether devices are put into deep sleep mode etc (in a simple, easy to grasp language).

I’m also more than happy to work together on writing a blogpost that will be added to the course.

Thanks in advance for any contribution.

difficult subject especially because there is no affordable equipment to meassure and log yet, also the range and conversion speed of that logger must be high.
for example sleep 0.3 uA and transmitting 160 mA , and everything in between

Laurens, when will this course be available? I have read somewhere it will be on EDX.org.

Here a thorough study for LoRa power consumption published in October 17:

Added it to the Academic Overview in Docs.
