The Things Certified Fundamentals

Signed up to do the The things certified fundamentals certificate expecting to launch into a training manual and then the certification. Nope: Straight into the test that only give you 15 minutes to complete.
A lot of irrelevant questions re other countries.
No chance of completing and passing in 15 minutes.

Does anyone know if you fail, do you have to pay again?

Make sure you have this link before paying for the certification:

Answering this as Miss Google will inevitably lead someone else to this topic.

There’s no wording on the sign up page that says there is a training manual - just the box bottom right with links to the materials you need to have covered - which includes the Learn section at the top of every forum page.

That is clearly stated box top right.

I suspect people in “other countries” may share your view, but radio waves know no boundaries and the concepts of local regulations & legal restrictions are a fundamental - if you are developing some firmware, being able to set it up for your regional parameters is key.

It is open book - you can have things like the channel plans open in a browser tab so you don’t have to memorise lots of silly “other countries” facts. But being able to refer to reference sources is a fundamental that, if you read a few forum posts, passes quite a few people by.

Did you deploy a gateway and a couple of devices before you signed up - or were you thinking there were some training materials to help with that - some practical experience helps enormously with the core concepts. And asking focused questions on the forum that shows prior research.
