Custom gateway ID

Hi there,

Noticed friendly gateway ID’s in my neighborhood and since my gateway ID was just the MAC address decided that I want to change it into something more meaningfull.

So edited the ‘local.conf.json’ file and replaced the MAC address with my friendly name ‘soest-noord’. Deleted the gatway in the TTN console and created a new one with the ID ‘soest-noord’. I’m not using the remote config option.

It never get’s into the ‘connected’ state, but it forwards messages from my TTN device. In the ‘data’ tab of my device I can see that the ID is now: ‘eui-0000000000000000’. This is also shown in the syslog file on my PI.

Anybody tried this as well with more success?

Thanks,
Remon

The UDP packet forwarder does not support our friendly names. It won’t be able to parse the config and apparently continue forwarding, but with an empty EUI. You should probably check out @kersing’s mp_pkt_fwd
