IP67 Temperature sensor recomendations?

Greetings. We have been monitoring our snowmelt system with home-brewed sensors for a few years now. It’s time to retire the hardware and replace it with a more robust, commercially available option. I’m seeking advice from you. What are your suggestions?

TTN compatible Lora
Temperature probe on a cable for inserting into sidewalk
Long battery life (all winter), and easily battery replacement/recharge.
IP67 waterproof.

Thanks for your opinion!

SHT31/35/41/45 are very accurate sensors and as IP68(?) version available. but they are not cheap then.
cheap ones are ds18b20..but not very accurate

so something like will do:

similar cam purchased from dragino.

If this is truely IP68 rated, how is it going to measure humidity?

Its not completely water proof or hermetically sealed, typically IP68 means it can survive for a time submerged but not for long and just covers against splashes and accidental drops into water.

Also it is quite possible to have barriers against liquid water ingress, but the same barrier still allows air and water vapour to pass through unhindered. Just look at the meshes that covers the speaker grills of IP68 rated mobile phones for example.

What are the short comings of your existing custom device? What would it take to make it robust and reliable?
