MikroTik RouterOS 7.21 - wAP LR8G | TheThingsStack (TTS)

Hello User,

did you have a screenshot for me?

Date: ? —>
https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/docs/gateways/mikrotik/

Now login to The Things Network Console and register your gateway while enabling the I'm using the legacy packet forwarder. If the configuration succeeded, your gateway will now be shown as connected on the console and is ready to receive LoRa packets.

I’m missing the “I'm using the legacy packet forwarder” button.

Thank you

Where can i find the new tutorial?

The original docs you refer to were for TTN V2 which sunset in Dec’20……a long time ago in this context…..as was the version of the Microtik firmware you see referenced. TTN V3 is basically TTS Sandbox so follow the last set of docs you referenced. Where you see ref to ‘legacy packet forwarder’ that means the original SMTC UDP based PF. These days the prefered PF is BasicStation using more secure and routable TCP/IP protocols (or if using a TTI supplied GW you may come across a specific TTI solution using TTIGP: The things industries Gateway Protocol - not applicable in your case). Thankfully the old UDP implementations are still deployed and supported under TTS. Sometimes easier to deploy/test/debug siting a GW using UDP as no issues around configuring authentications etc. (a common source of errors when setting up) though that is one of reasons for moving to BasicStation as inherently more secure and ‘authenticated’ as an end point/gateway

The TTN server address referenced (router.eu……:1700) was the old V2 address and the port (1700) was (is still!) used for UDP, i.e. ‘legacy’ PF connection. The current address will be eu.cloud……. with again option for port 1700 if using SMTC PF see here for docs:

For Basicstation (if a GW supports the option) then addresses will be of the form

“What is my server address?

This is the address you use to access The Things Stack. See Server Addresses.

For LoRa Basics™ Station:

  • CUPS uses the URI: https://<server-address>:443

  • LNS uses the URI: wss://<server-address>:8887

For Semtech UDP Packet Forwarder use <server-address>. The Up Port and Down Port are typically 1700.”

Again refer to the docs, more on server addresses and structure/ports etc. here:-

Also dig a little deeper and follow the docs - you will get to here:-

(Note various Mikrotik options covered under ‘Models’ on the left panel…..basic principle are the same across all types.)

You could always create a detailed tutorial based on your experience - remember we are the network : you, me and all the other TTN users - then sumit as a TTN Labs post? Otherwise refer to the manufacturers documentation (sadly many are slow to update for changed to the TTN LNS/TTS).
