Mini PCI-E PCI-Express to USB Adapter With SIM Slot Card for WWAN/LTE Module $14.11 + $2.39 shipping

This lets you use the much cheaper PCI-E 3G/4G cards meant for laptops for and connect them via USB. Will try it with the Raspberry Pi.

NOTE: It does not include the 3G/4G card, just the adapter

if you need a DC-DC lipo to 5V converter with a bit more (peak) power this one is good.

Here is a suitable outside antenna with a SMA connector.
It supports 433/868Mhz and GSM 900/1800/1900MHz/UMTS and has gain of +3dB

somebody played with this? RFM95PW

according to the data sheet it should to be sw-compatible with the “small” module, but gives more power

…not my cup of tea, but curious: why would one need that? (Assuming one wants to adhere to regulations.)

Other regions, e.g. Asia, allow much higher EIRP than Europe. I thought Korea even went up to 200mW.
