I just found a The Things Gateway in the attic, dusted it off and was wondering whether it’s possible to upgrade it so I can connect it to TTS.
The /info page shows a couple issues…
Is it worth pursuing this or is it a lost cause?

Absolutely should be worth following through. If a very old build even if early 1.0.8 firmware installed may be a victim of cert that expired some years back requiring update.
If GW registered on TTN V3 from prior times then simply follow docs linked below and grab (stable) firmware update and an SD card and follow upgrade process, and after power cycle should connect. If going back to old TTN V2 prior to sunset then simply log into your TTN account, add the GW in new console ( The Things Network Console ) and complete the firmware update as above and you should see all running well after a short period whilst GW configures and updates……any specific issues come back here with detailed error messages and Forum users should be able to guide you through assuming not a hardware issue.

Before I go ahead w/ the firmware update I wanted to ensure that I have the full picture and a baseline thus read the serial logs.
The gateway is in a boot loop at the moment, but it’s unclear to me why - these line look suspicious though.

Am not into the weeds of the software but would suggest/observe as follow
GW seemes to get local netwok connection ok and the initiates a TLS connection for small download - not sure if updating ok or falling victim old cert.
Starts to configure the concentrator module which is where it fails and loops. Dont know if hardware issue or firmware corruption or failed configuration or…. at this point. System looks to be pointing at the right TTN server (V3 vs old V2) - eu1.cloud.thethings…..
In early days after initial product release (Late 2017/2018) I recall some folk had problems getting the system to configure and boot correctly. (Heard of a few cases arising in 2019 also). The solution for many was to remove concentrator module, clean connections and reseat, then restart. It may be that if the GW has sat unused for years in loft space (not ideal storage location if not running?) then the contact issues may have set in. Suggest try module reseat to see if it clears.
Have a few TKGW’s myself and when updating/reflashing I found it was taking maybe 7-10 mins to grab new files, load SD and reboot/upgrade so in all honesty I would suggest to just do it - it may be ‘upgrade’ clears any issue and just starts, if not try the reseat module trick and try again…..either way reflashing would be the obvious route to me - others may suggest alternate options - as it removes firmware issues or corruption from the equation. (Unless there is a hardware flash problem and testing with new f/w would be only way to be sure anyhow).
If you want to try and go ‘off piste’ then friend of the TTN Community Remko @pe1mew has done some good work reprogramming his TKGW to move away from existing TTI/TTN firmware and has written about it here. Kickstarter gateway, with a little help of my friend
If you struggle with the official route perhaps give that a try - haven’t tried myself yet (waiting for a sacrificial TKGW to come free in coming weeks), but with his usually well implemented instances I’m sure you should be fine. Personally I would try official upgrade route first to be sure no h/w issues exist and device is ok before trying to go off piste as you may end up trying to debug the wrong thing!

Mananged to update the firmware to v1.0.9-eb004399 (2022-10-28T13:45:31Z), but didn’t help.
Turns out it was a contact issue all along.
Lesson learnt.
