*What’s a Smart Island? * Matchbox-sized computers or stamp sized beacons (“things”) connected to the internet can monitor water acidity, sense temperature or toxic fumes. Sensors, actuators and "nodes" can text you if your boat is swamped. They can show visitors where the arts, hotels or local farms are. Farmers can use “things” to monitor soil moisture. People of all ages can learn to make “things” to reimagine our island. With a community-owned, smart Island network we can own and use our local data, freely! #Join us!#
