기업과 학교, 일반인들이 자신들이 사용하는 서버및 네트워크를 서로 연결하고,
다른 사람들이 자신들의 서버및 네트워크를 무료로 사용할 수 있게 하면서 인터넷은 형성되었습니다. 그 결과, 폭발적으로 많은 양의 데이터 통신과 엄청난 혁신이 일어났습니다.

The Things Network은 인터넷이 한것과 똑같은 것을 IoT (Internet of Things)를 위하여 하고자 합니다. 그 결과, 폭발적으로 많은 양의 IoT 데이터 통신을 가능하게 하고 더욱 새로운 혁신이 일어나도록 하며, 새로운 Application과 Business가 번창할 수 있는 기반을 만들고자 합니다.

The Things Network의 미션

The Things Network의 미션은, 사용자들이 직접 소유하고 운영하는, 또한 crowdsourcing으로 세계적인 개방형 IoT (Internet of Things) 데이터 네트워크를 구축하는 것입니다.

2015년 7월, The Things Network팀은 LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network)이라고 하는 새로운 무선통신 기술을 이용하여 암스테르담시 전체 어디서든지 데이터 통신이 가능하도록 하는데 성공하였습니다. 그 네트워크는 여러분과 같은 일반인들이 funding을 하여 bottom-up형식으로 구축되었습니다. 지금, 그 네트워크는 전 세계적으로 70개국으로 퍼져나갔습니다. 전 세계에 개방형 IoT 데이터 네트워크를 구축하는 이 미션에 동참하십시요.

Rules & Regulations (LoRa 통신 규칙및 규범)

LoRa는 ISM Band (Industrial, Scientific, and Medial Radio Band)를 사용하며, ISM Band는 WiFi처럼 면허없이 사용할 수 있는 비면허 주파수 대역이며, 각 나라마다 그 규칙과 규범이 다릅니다.

한국의 ISM Band의 2016년6월9일 고시된 '무선설비규칙 미래부고시 제 30조 (RFID/USN 등의 무선설비) 항목' 과 2016년 10월에 LoRa Alliance에 의하여 발표된 'LoRaWAN Regional Parameters v1.0 문서 (LoRaWAN v1.0.2 Specification 문서와 함께 발표된 문서임)'에 정의되어 있습니다.

위에 언급된 2개의 문서를 받아 보시려면 아래 'Resources (자원)' 란을 보시기 바랍니다.

위 2개 문서에 의하여 규정된 한국 ISM Band 의 Channel Frequency와 Maximum EIRP를 Table로 정리하였습니다. 더 자세한 사항은 위 2개의 문서를 참고하시기 바랍니다.

(2) LBT (Listen-Before-Talk)

한국 무선설비규칙은 Listen Before Talk Adaptive Frequency Agility (LBT AFA) 혹은 Duty-cycle 제한을 사용할 수 있도록 하고 있지만, 한국의 KR920-923 ISM band에 대한 LoRaWAN 표준은 최대한 많은 양의 Data 전송을 위하여 LBT (Listen-Before-Talk) 만을 사용하도록 규정하고 있습니다.
