[Córdoba/Veracruz, México] First LoRaWAN Gateway Online – TTN Community Awakening

Hello TTN Community :waving_hand:

I’m writing from Córdoba, Veracruz, México — and I’m happy to announce that we’ve just brought the first active LoRaWAN gateway online in the state of Veracruz.

:satellite_antenna: Gateway: The Things Outdoor Gateway (TTOG) – US 915 MHz
:round_pushpin: Location: Córdoba, Veracruz, México (18.88°N, 96.93°W)
:globe_with_meridians: Network: The Things Network v3, cluster nam1
:wrench: Backhaul: Ethernet + 4G LTE backup
:building_construction: Status: Active and connected

About this region

Veracruz is one of the most biodiverse and agriculturally rich states in Mexico — home to coffee, sugarcane, vanilla, and citrus farming across diverse terrain from coastal lowlands to the slopes of Pico de Orizaba (5,636m). It is also a major logistics corridor between Veracruz port and Mexico City.

Despite this strategic importance, the TTN Veracruz community page has existed for some time but has remained in “unleashed” status with no active gateways. Today that changes.

Why LoRaWAN here matters

The region has immediate, concrete use cases:

  • Soil moisture & frost monitoring for coffee and citrus crops
  • Flood and landslide early warning systems (Sierra de Zongolica, Orizaba slopes)
  • Asset tracking for agro-logistics along the Córdoba–Veracruz highway corridor
  • Smart water monitoring for rivers and municipal systems
  • Air quality and noise monitoring in Córdoba’s historic center

What I’m looking for

I am actively seeking to connect with:

  • Developers and makers in Veracruz or nearby states interested in LoRaWAN
  • Universities or research centers (UV, Tec Orizaba, ITCórdoba) exploring IoT applications
  • Agricultural producers and cooperatives looking for affordable sensor networks
  • Anyone willing to help grow the TTN Veracruz community toward official status

If you’re in the region or have experience growing TTN communities in Latin America, I’d love to hear from you.

Let’s build the network together. :seedling:

Welcome to the community Carlos !
I’m a little too far away (and on a different frequency) but otherwise I would join you
