Dashboard Options, recomendation please

Morning All, and HNY.

I have been away from the scene for a couple of years (House rennovations etc)

Now I have reinstalled my RAK2245 Pi GW and a couple of sensors, Water temperature and flow rates, and got a bit of data flowing.

My question is what options do I have for displaying this data on a “Site” would something like Datacake suite my needs or would you recommend something else, I would only be looking to use around 5 to 10 sensors for water monitoring etc. The sensors are homebuilt Arduino units.

The end result would be to go to a dashboard and view the data from the sensors like water inlet flow, temperature , tank levels , consumption and run-off

Thanks for any support

Hi

To view data from for 5 to 10 sensors you may use a free ThingSpeak account…. if their kind of dashboards suits your needs

I would say it really depends on a few factors.

  • how tech savvy you are (which sounds like you are)
  • how much effort you want to put it vs. how custom you want things
  • how much of a cost tolerance you have.

There are a few options:

  • Free + fully custom, but highest effort to integrate (Grafana)
  • Not free ($10 per month for 10 devices), and fair number of options (https://thingsboard.io) - community edition is free, but I don’t recall the limitations there.
  • KaaIoT is another option (➤ IoT Dashboards | IoT Solution Templates | Kaa IoT Cloud) but last time I used them they were a bit more limited than things board and did not have a free option. It seems they do have a free option now though.

I personally opted to create my own monitoring stack, and run Grafana for full control. I have a project on Github that helps with running it on a Raspberry Pi if you’re interested ( GitHub - Cosmic-Pulse/PiWAN: An all-in-one gateway solution for Raspberry Pi + LoRaWAN using BasicStation and Grafana. )
