Unable to reset password for old account

I’m trying to reset password for my old and no more in use account where there is registered a gateway i have to unregister and unassociate. i try to reset my password i receive the link to reset password but this error rise to me:

The bit in bold seems rather odd, I’d expect fred@domain.com to be fred%40domain.com

It may be that something went wrong with typing in the address and the server is confused …
