The Things Network has an active forum space that allows people to discuss anything related to the network. it is is a great place to find other contributors and start discussing the setup of a community. You can create a new topic under the category: Campaigns with the name of your community. Write a first post in this topic to announce your existence and to find people who are interested in contributing.

- Write out "TheThingsNetwork" in your Twitter name (for example TheThingsNetworkAms)

- You can use the logo shown in the community page as your profile picture

Connect gateways
Create coverage by connecting gateways.
The Things Network is currently developing their own gateways which will be in retail near the end of this year. You can pre-order these affordable gateways in the shop already.
You probably don't want to wait that long. Happily, The Things Network supports different kinds of gateways like the Multitech, Kerlink and Lorank. You can even build your own gateway.
In case you already have a gateway, you can add it to the map.
COMMUNICATION CHANNEL
Create a channel to communicate internally.
In order to communicate internally, we highly recommend you to create a Slack group. It is a free messaging app that helps organizing your team conversation and allows you to directly reach out to members.
You can also use other ways of communication, as long as you make sure people have easy access to join the conversation.

The question you are asking: Why The Things Network and not 5G?
5G is a short range, higher power consumption, fast throughput, low latency, can't get through obstacles, expensive solution for a simple service that needs long range, low power, low cost (and nil cost for using the network) for the tiny little bits and Bytes of data 'most' IoT devices require.
5G video cameras will be great, but you don't need 5G to receive a teeny tiny message to your app service to tell you that a door has been opened, your fridge has gone over temp or your field is too dry.
Each outdoor Things Network covers up to 10km radius (ok let's be realistic it's not as far, but you get the idea), AND can penetrate buildings. So you don't need hundreds of 5G short range antennas to cover a town, and smaller ones in a building. So TTN offers pervasive connectivity with no micro hubs unless you have an underground car park or dungeon.
The Things Network can also support thousands of sensors, so unless you really want to stream from your cat's collar cam, The Things Network is your IoT friend.
For developers and makers (3D printers welcome), we have Audrino and Raspberry Pi boards that you can tinker with on your fav ideas.
Need to host applications, we can help with that as well. Ollie is our night owl developer and creates our platforms, so we can help. We also have friendly 3D designers and manufacturers for your final design concept and product launches.
